Connections at Home (CAHNJ), the Verona based non-profit organization dedicated to helping socially isolated, homebound Essex County seniors celebrated its fourth anniversary September 24 in its offices at Vanguard Medical Group.
Since its inception in the fall of 2014, CAHNJ has been providing program participants with a free, senior-friendly, computer or tablet so that they are able to stay connected with loved ones through email and video-chat, as well as Facebook, and also stay mentally active playing games, listening to music, reading articles, watching movies, surfing the web, etc. Each client is paired with a social worker who video-chats with them once a week. The social worker can provide them with the resources to help with housing, in-home care, medical services, access to food, and transportation to appointments.
